Room-Temperature Quantum Research Facilities: A Scalable Model for Emerging Research Universities
A practical model for emerging universities. Nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond run at room temperature on standard optical and microwave equipment, which opens a route to quantum sensing, small quantum registers, quantum networking and workforce training for roughly $70,000 to $350,000 over seven years, inside the Texas Quantum Initiative framework.

Thinking at the Edge: Neuromorphic Computing's Biomedical Moment
Event-driven spiking neural network inference on purpose-built silicon answers the power and latency limits of biomedical edge AI, and the hardware results are already there: seizure detection under 300 µW on a wearable, cardiac arrhythmia classification that runs off a coin cell, neuroprosthetic control at sub-millisecond latency. Not one neuromorphic SNN medical device has been cleared anywhere in the world. The first systematic analysis of that gap, with technology-readiness estimates for epilepsy monitoring, cardiac arrhythmia detection and neuroprosthetics, readiness assessed across five dimensions, and the five structural regulatory gaps that hold clearance up.
